What This Is Not
This is not for every man
Our program is intentionally focused - it is designed for Christian men who want serious formation through reading, writing, discussion, and who are willing to make the long-term commitment.
That means it is important to be clear about what the program is not. We are not trying to satisfy every educational desire, replace formal higher education, or provide an effortless solution.
The Guild is not:
A casual book club
The Guild requires weekly preparation, assigned work, active participation, and long-term commitment.
It is a disciplined course of formation.A lecture series
There are no instructors, recorded lectures, or passive content streams.
Formation happens through reading, writing, and peer discussion.A seminary program
The Guild does not confer degrees, train men for ordination, or replace formal theological education.
A replacement for church
The Guild assumes each participant is an active member of a local church and remains under ordinary pastoral care.
Easy or always convenient
The work will compete with entertainment, leisure, distraction, and passive consumption.
For everyone
This is probably not a fit for men who cannot commit for three years, want guided lectures, or prefer novelty to depth.
This program will be perfect for the right sort of man
A Better Question
What kind of formation are you actually seeking?
The Guild will frustrate a man who wants easy inspiration. It will also frustrate one who wants academic credentials without the hard work. But for men who want a serious, structured path that fits within family, vocation, and church life, that narrowness is part of the strength.
If you want ease
This will likely feel too demanding.
If you want lectures
This will likely feel too participatory.
If you want credentials
This will likely feel too ordinary.
If you want formation
This may be exactly the kind of work you need.
