Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much time does the program require?

Participants should expect:

  • Approximately 6–8 hours of reading per week

  • Weekly one-hour meeting

  • Additional time for writing during paper terms

This is a serious commitment, but far less than a traditional academic program.

What does the program cost?

There is currently no tuition to enroll in The Guild.

Participants purchase the full course material package up front, which includes all of the books and additional resources. See the store for more info.

Do I need prior experience in classical education?

No! Most students have never read these works before. The program is designed for men who are hungry, not already credentialed.

Is this a church or seminary program?

No. The Guild is an educational program that operates alongside - not in place of - your local church. Participants are expected to be active members of a Christian congregation.

Is this only for men?

Yes. The Guild is currently restricted to men only. Group dynamics and the program structure are intentionally designed around male formation.

What theological approach formed the Guild's program?

The curriculum is broadly Protestant and rooted in historic Christian orthodoxy. Those in the Reformed tradition will find themselves quite at home.

Applicants are expected to possess a mature Christian faith and sufficient theological grounding to engage critically with challenging texts.

What if I fall behind?

Life happens. The expectation is commitment, not perfection. Participants who fall behind are encouraged to recover pace when possible and remain engaged with their group.

How selective is the application process?

Moderately selective. The application exists to ensure good fit and long-term commitment, not to exclude unnecessarily.
